Futari privacy

Updated on October 17, 2026

Futari is a browser extension that syncs video playback between friends. This page says exactly what it sends and what it keeps.

What goes to the relay

  • The name you pick and the room code.
  • The playback state: playing or paused, position, speed.
  • The episode being watched: the site, the episode id, its title and its address, so the other members can follow it.

This information only serves the room. A room with nobody in it is deleted after 24 hours.

Site suggestions

  • "Suggest this site" sends the name of the site (for example hidive.com), never the address of the page, once per site.
  • The relay keeps one counter per site, and this website shows the ones we have checked. Your IP address is used to limit abuse, in memory only, and is never stored.

What stays in your browser

  • Your name, the current room, your settings and the list of sites you suggested.

What Futari never does

  • No account, no cookies, no visit statistics, no advertising.
  • No reading of your pages outside a room, no sharing of the video, no sale or transfer of data.

Hosting

  • The relay runs on Cloudflare (Workers and Durable Objects). Like any server, Cloudflare sees the IP address of connections, under its own privacy policy.

Extension permissions

  • Storage: keep the room, the name and the settings.
  • Tabs: know which tab shows the episode and when it closes.
  • Alarms: reconnect if Chrome stops the background service.
  • Page access: find the video, including inside a site's embedded player. Outside a room, these scripts do nothing.
